Go For It: Give God Your YES

March 1, 2026 // Goodrich // Pastor Darin Loruss

There’s one big idea we want you to walk away with: What God has for you is on the other side of your “Yes.” In Joshua 1, we see a defining moment in Israel’s history. Moses is gone. The wilderness season is over. The promise stands in front of them. And God gives Joshua a simple command: Go. God doesn’t hand Joshua a five-year plan. He doesn’t provide every detail. Instead, He gives direction wrapped in a repeated encouragement: “Be strong and courageous.” Why? Because every “go” from God requires courage. Every promise requires obedience. Every breakthrough begins with a step.

Obedience Before Understanding

Joshua was told to prepare the people to cross the Jordan River and take possession of the land God had promised. There were enemies on the other side. There were unknowns. Yet the people responded, “Wherever you send us, we will go.” Often, obedience comes before understanding. God rarely gives us the full blueprint. He gives us the next step. Success for Israel wasn’t tied to strategy alone—it was tied to spiritual obedience. God told them to meditate on His Word, to stay aligned with His commands, and to trust that He would be with them wherever they went. The same is true for us. Faith doesn’t wait for perfect conditions. Faith responds when God speaks.

Courage Moves Before the Miracle

In Joshua 3, the Priests carrying the Ark stepped into the flooded Jordan River before the waters parted. In Joshua 6, the Israelites marched around Jericho for seven days with no weapons of attack—just obedience. The walls fell after they moved in faith. Courage is not the absence of fear. It is the decision to move anyway. Sometimes the miracle comes after the step. You don’t see the breakthrough until you march. You don’t see the waters part until your feet touch the river. You don’t see the walls fall until you shout in faith. God works on the other side of our obedience.

A Personal Reminder to “Go”

This message isn’t just biblical—it’s personal. There are moments in life when God calls us to step into something new, even when it feels uncertain. In Pastor Darin and Wendy’s journey of trusting God with a major life decision, what stood out most was the repeated confirmation to “go for it.” It wasn’t about having every detail figured out. It was about trusting that if God was leading, He would provide. And He did. God is still speaking. He is still leading. He is still asking His people to trust Him with bold steps of faith.

What Are You Waiting For?

Joshua later asked the Israelites, “How long will you wait before you begin to take possession of the land the Lord has given you?” That question echoes today. Is there something God has been nudging you toward? A step of faith you’ve been delaying? A calling you’ve been hesitating to embrace? Don’t wait for the perfect feeling. Don’t wait for every variable to line up. If God has spoken, the time is now. He promises to bring peace, healing, restoration, and purpose—but we must step toward it. The land was promised to Israel, but they still had to walk into it. So whatever God is placing in front of you—go for it. Because what He has for you is on the other side of your yes.
